EDMONTON – Every day, 43 Albertans are told they have cancer. In an effort to lower that number, thousands of Albertans took part in a two-day long bike ride through the Alberta rockies this past weekend. The seventh annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer raised $7.8 million for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

The largest cycling fundraiser in Alberta drew thousands of participants and brought together communities of cancer survivors, cyclists and supporters, who trained and fundraised for months in order to participate in the two-day, 200-kilometre bike ride from Calgary to Okotoks and back. This year 1,741 people took part.

“We are incredibly grateful of the riders, donors, volunteers, sponsors and crew members who have enabled the seventh annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Evraz to be a remarkable success and support our mission to enhance the lives of patients and their families,” said Myka Osinchuk, chief executive officer at the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

In seven years, the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised over $54 million in Alberta. The funds go towards cancer research, clinical trials, enhanced care and the discovery of new cancer therapies at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and 15 other centres across Alberta.

The 2016 Ride is scheduled for Aug. 6 and 7. Registration is already open at 苏州美甲纹绣培训conquercancer苏州美甲纹绣培训 or by calling (888) 624-2453.
